Flexible Delivery is based upon an online training platform providing a quality interactive training experience to participants, this allows students to study in their own time and at their own pace, and attending the academy when they are ready for assessment. Flexible Delivery is a true blended approach to training and assessment, reducing contact hours and inconvenience to students, whilst allowing students the opportunity to gain valuable nationally accredited qualifications.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Specialised Career Solutions™ offer RPL in all qualifications we offer:
What is RPL?
RPL is a form of assessment that recognises skills and knowledge gained through either formal training, work experience or life experience. If you are doing the job now you most likely have the skills already to earn a nationally recognised qualification.
What will it cost me?
There are no additional charges for credit (either RPL or CT) so all you pay for is the cost of your course.
Example # 1
John has recently (last month) completed a First Aid course (HLTAID003 Apply First Aid) with the Lifesaving association. And notes that First Aid is a Unit of his Security Course, John can claim credit transfer (CT) for this as the qualification HLTAID003 Apply First Aid, is identical.
John enrols on the Security Course and pays the course fee ($750) and notes that the First Aid (HLTAID003 Apply First Aid) course is included, John applies for CT, by providing a copy of his Certificate, the assessor will grant credit for this, John will not be required to attend the First Aid course, and John will not be charged extra for the CT.
Example # 2
John has been working as a security officer for 10 years for a government department, where no licence was required, and no certificates/qualifications were held by John. John was recently terminated and has been offered employment with a private security company.
John can enrol on the course and pay the course fees, and claim RPL, (John cannot claim CT as he does not hold any equivalent qualifications) John can then make an appointment with his allocated assessor and the assessor will assist in documenting the RPL application.
John may be granted 100% RPL or partial RPL, if 100% RPL is awarded John will be issued a Qualification, if gaps are identified in John’s RPL Application, the assessor will identify these and advise John on the dates when this gap training will occur, no additional fees will apply, even though the RPL process is a one on one experience with your allocated assessor.
Example # 3
John finished his Crowd Control Course and obtained a Queensland Crowd Controllers Licence, after 3 years John receives a letter from the Office of fair trading advising he must complete the three refresher units of competency, John notes we already holds these on his qualification and applies for CT, Even though John holds the current Unit/qualification CT cannot be granted as John MUST undertake the refresher course as a condition endorsed on his licence.
Government Subsidies are available!
The Queensland Government Certificate 3 Guarantee Program will subsidise the RPL process for eligible participants in approved qualifications. So if you are eligible you will only be required to pay $the published student contribution fee (refer to our student handbook).
What is a Credit Transfer (CT)?
Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification previously undertaken / awarded.
Simply said RPL recognises prior learning and experience, whereas CT recognises formal qualifications.
How do I apply for Credit?
Students when enrolling on a course will be asked if they wish to claim credit transfer (CT) or recognition of prior learning (RPL), if you wish to claim credit (either RPL or CT) please bring with you to your enrolment session copies of evidence, i.e. Resume, Job Descriptions, References , Copies of Prior qualifications etc.
Your assessor will work with you to document your application, to ensure credit is granted where available.
Can I claim 100% Credit?
Yes you can, all you need to do is enrol on a course and submit copies of your evidence to your allocated assessor, and we have an electronic credit procedure that documents the credit application process, making the process less stressful and enjoyable.
